SMU-in-Taos Application

By submitting this application, I am requesting acceptance to take courses at the SMU-in-Taos campus. In order to determine my eligibility to attend, SMU-in-Taos must work with SMU Student Affairs to review my conduct records.  I hereby release my SMU Student Conduct Records to SMU-in-Taos.

If I am accepted, I understand that I must confirm my plans to attend and commit to pay non-refundable room and board fees to reserve my spot in the courses.  Once the application process is complete, SMU-in-Taos staff will enroll me in my confirmed courses and all remaining fees will be added to my student account.  I understand it is my responsibility to verify my enrollment and charges are correct on my.SMU and that I will be financially responsible for all associated fees and payment due dates.  SMU-in-Taos has strict deadlines regarding cancellations, withdrawals, and refunds, which can be found online at: www.smu.edu/taos.

I understand that alcohol and drugs are prohibited on the Taos campus. I may be removed from campus and withdrawn from my classes if I violate this policy or any violation of the SMU Student Code of Conduct. The Dean of Student office will hold the conduct file as part of my overall record at SMU, which would be released to third parties upon a properly executed request for the information.  I agree to review and abide by all University and SMU-in-Taos policies, including those stated online at: www.smu.edu/taos.

I permit SMU-in-Taos to use photographs/video in which I may appear, in whole or part, for the purpose of publication and/or advertisement.

Furthermore, I understand and agree to the following:

The SMU-in-Taos office works closely with Student Affairs to review all participants for eligibility to participate in courses at SMU-in-Taos.

• Students in good standing with Student Affairs are eligible to attend.
• Students with open cases, incomplete sanctions or on disciplinary probation, deferred suspension, or higher are not eligible to attend SMU-in-Taos.

Acceptance is required to participate in courses at the SMU-in-Taos campus. All students will be reviewed by Student Affairs upon application to SMU-in-Taos. This review can take 2-4 weeks. Students will be notified of their eligibility to attend via email.  Please do NOT make travel arrangements until you have confirmed your acceptance and enrollment in courses. Any changes in a student’s status with Student Affairs after acceptance is granted may impact their ability to participate in courses at SMU-in-Taos.  If you believe your status may have changed, you must contact Student Affairs immediately to determine if you are still eligible to attend SMU-in-Taos.  It is the student’s responsibility to notify SMU-in-Taos right away if they are no longer eligible to attend courses in Taos.

Students should familiarize themselves with and be prepared to abide by all SMU-in-Taos policies and the SMU Student Code of Conduct for the duration of their stay in Taos.  Violations of the SMU Student Code of Conduct and/or SMU-in-Taos policies may result in sanctions, fines, and/or removal from the SMU-in-Taos campus.  If a student is removed from the SMU-in-Taos campus, they will be administratively dropped from all courses and required to leave campus at their own expense.  Students who have been removed from SMU-in-Taos will not be allowed to continue their coursework or receive an incomplete.  Students who have been dropped from courses will receive a letter grade of "W" or "F" depending on the point in the term. Students must abide by all rules, regulations, and instructions for student behavior.  Students are expected to comply with the policies of SMU and SMU-in-Taos, including—but not limited to—those found online at smu.edu/taos.  SMU-in-Taos has the right to require a student’s cancellation or withdrawal from the campus—with or without refund—due to unsatisfactory academic work or behavior at any time.
